Dear colleagues,

I attach Howard Bunsis' financial analysis of the university (February
2017) and presentation on the AAUP in/and Louisiana (from the same day). A
parallel financial analysis was made of LSU and Bunsis is soon to visit
SU-BR.

This year's major speaker is Chris Newfield, October 25, 2018 (5:30 PM, 112
Olivier Hall). "Fixing the great mistake: the university in 2050" is the
presentation he will give here and at LSU. It follows on Newfield's book *The
Great Mistake* (JHUP 2016, 2018 in paperback), on the defunding of public
universities over the past generation. Here's a little more information
from Chris, who is Professor of English at the University of California,
