I received the attached recommendation from the Provost Search Committee
this morning.  I have spoken with Dr. Hebert and informed him of my
commitment to the Senate to invite him to campus to meet with
representatives of the Faculty Senate and AAUP prior to taking any action
on the search committee's recommendation.

Dr. Hebert can arrange a visit with interested faculty on Monday, May 21,
mid to late morning or Tuesday, May 22, mid to late morning.  Please poll
your membership and let me know which time works best.  My office will
handle arrangements.
